Survey results to improve vegetarian options in restaurants

Supplier News

Restaurant & Catering Australia (R&CA) is working with the organisers of the annual National Vegetarian Week to find out if menu options in Australian restaurants are diversifying to reflect the increasing shift in customers opting for vegetarian options.

Throughout June, R&CA is inviting both members and non-members to participate in a survey to discover to what extent vegetarian and “healthy options? are included on the menu.

“The type of food available in Australian restaurants is constantly evolving as consumers tastebuds continue to change,” said R&CA chief executive officer John Hart.

“This survey is a great opportunity for businesses in the industry to take stock of what they offer and whether they are meeting the needs of the community.”

Once the results of the survey come through (in conjunction with National Vegetarian Week from September 28 to October 4), they will be used to develop a resource kit which will offer suggestions for businesses to ensure they’re providing menu options that meet the needs of an increasingly mainstream vegetarian and health conscious customer-base.

“We are committed to helping restaurants, cafes and caterers provide the best service for their customers and we urge all businesses to get involved in the survey and to adopt some of the suggestions that will be provided in the resource kits.”
