Formed in 2005, the Professional Housekeepers Association of NSW (PHAN) is a non profit incorporated association that represents professional housekeepers throughout the NSW region.

It was established by a group of Sydney Executive Housekeepers with the intention of encouraging ambition within the industry, in addition to inspiring, training and mentoring current employees for the future of the housekeeping management profession.

PHAN states that it "is dedicated to share knowledge and continue housekeeping manager's professional development throughout their careers as well as to actively assist and encourage those under their direction to advance their knowledge and experience."

Current PHAN President Chona Ogilvie recently outlined a number of key goals for the Association looking forward.

She said that the Association "will invite members to join our committee meetings, giving them an understanding of how PHAN works, an opportunity to add their ideas and ongoing involvement throughout the year."

Further, and to increase the standing of PHAN as an organisation, Chona stated that the Association will focus on increasing its membership, a move that she anticipates will assist in "acknowledging the importance of the housekeeping department’s contribution to the success of hospitality in NSW."
