Popina has been operating for 30 years, and is principally involved in making mostly cereals and muesli bars.

About four years ago, Popina become involved with the CSIRO on a new wholegrain they had developed called Barleymax.

From there Popina launched the brand called Goodness Superfoods that contains Barleymax in three of its cereals, porridges and muesli bars.

“The unique thing about this product is that [Barleymax] developed by CSIRO is very high fibre and has what is called resistance starch, which is a type of fibre really unknown in other grains.”

The cereals, porridge and muesli bars that contain the Barleymax are beneficial to the digestive system because of this wholegrain.

“We’ve got a lot of anecdotal evidence from people in terms of helping many ailments, like stomach ailments.”

Popina is slowly adding the Barleymax wholegrain to its range of muesli-based cereals and muesli bars.
