Royal North Shore Hospital now houses some of the latest patient technology by adding the robotic Burlodge cook/serve meal delivery system from Moffat to their new wards.
The Burlodge meal delivery system carries and transports around 2,000 meals a day, allowing the Royal North Shore staff members to free up their time to tend to more important services like tending to patients.
The latest equipment is available in in-patient wards and in the new 18 operating theatres at the hospital.
Staff scan their cards into the numerous calling stations around the hospital to order the AGV robot.
Wireless technology will send a signal to the robot, which will send a note back to the operator with the details of cargo and whether the device is empty.
Dependent on the commands from the operator the robot will zip down the hallways by itself, avoiding patients and staff through its motion sensor detection technology and attend to the demanded calling station.
The automated robot even walks and talks like a human, avoiding any accidents by addressing incoming objects detected by the motion sensors with the warning, ''Attention, automatic transport. Please step aside.''
Moffat is proud to have taken part in the innovation and operation of this piece of technology.
