Heat 1 of HTN - Hospitality Employment Solutions Apprentice Chef Culinary Competition

The first heat of the 2011 HTN Hospitality Employment Solutions ' Apprentice Chef Culinary Competition was held on Wednesday 25th May at Illawarra Institute of TAFE in Wollongong. The Fourteen apprentice chefs who competed were overseen by judges from Industry, TAFE NSW and HTN.

The results were:

1st Year:
1st : Barry-Luke Pearson
2nd : Rachael Gilmore
3rd : Jessica Elvidge
Merit: Jessica Handedo

2nd Year:
1st : Katie Ingmire
2nd : Brooke Silk
3rd : Jeffrey Farmer
Merit: Fuji Taukatelata

4th Year:
Merit: Abbey McDonald

The prizes on the day included industry items and vouchers from Fraser and Hughes for the top three in each year.

The first placed apprentice chefs were invited to compete in the Grand Final to be held in October where each first place will receive $2,500.

Earlier in the week HTN announced the addition of two major prizes for HTN Apprentices - a Piaggio Scooter thanks to Profiline Cookware and a Cruise for two taking the competition prize pool to around $30,000.
