The fifth heat of the 2011 HTN Apprentice Chef Culinary Competition organised by HTN Hospitality Employment Solutions was held at the Hunter Institute of TAFE - Hamilton Campus on 21st June.
Twenty-nine apprentice chefs competed in the culinary competition and were evaluated by judges from Industry, TAFE NSW and HTN Hospitality Employment Solutions.
Prizes including industry items and vouchers from Fraser and Hughes were given to the top three competitors from each year.
The first placed apprentice chefs will compete in the Grand Final to be held in October where winners placed first will receive $2,500.
Earlier in the competition, HTN announced the addition of two major prizes for HTN apprentices including a Piaggio scooter thanks to Profiline Cookware and a cruise for two, taking the competition prize pool to around $30,000.

HTN expects around 350 apprentice chefs to compete across the entire competition. Heat competitions have already been held in Wollongong, Wentworth Falls, Kingswood and Coffs Harbour.
The event will also be conducted in Kurri Kurri, Ryde, Canberra, Ourimbah, Baulkham Hills, Port Macquarie, Melbourne and Bega.
