The Rolling Pin Pies and Cakes is abuzz and proudly displaying its trophies for winning Australia’s Best Pie Competition, flattening the competition with its chunky beef pie.

The Australia's Best Pie competition saw live judging on the floor at Foodservice Australia at Melbourne's Royal Exhibition Centre.

The competition saw more than 120 bakeries from around Australia entering the various categories of the competition.

Nathan Williams, general manager, Rolling Pin Pies and Cakes, says the team is ecstatic about the win.

“We’ve always thought that this particular pie was a very good one, and this year we were pretty confident going in,” Williams says. “But of course to take out the best at show is always a surprise.”

The Rolling Pin Pies and Cakes, a local bakery of the Geelong area, has been entering the pie competition for the past three years.

“We go into the competitions with the intention of really having a crack at winning it, and every year you get judges comments and you talk to judges and find out really what they are looking for and you make tweaks and things along the way.”
