The Fonterra Proud to be a Chef Program announced its 2013 winner recently.
Apprentice chef Jacob Hoskin of Victoria was awarded the the prestigious title.
Jacob is a Victoria University apprentice who studies at the Sofitel Academy.
Jacob said he was overwhelmed to be awarded such a unique opportunity and was proud to be showing the world what Victoria’s apprentice chefs have to offer the culinary industry.
Now in its 14th year, the Fonterra Proud to be a Chef Program is designed to publicly recognise and reward the dedication and commitment of apprentice chefs.
The program gives 32 finalist apprentice chefs from across Australia and New Zealand the opportunity to experience three days of master classes delivered by world-leading chefs and experts.
Jacob submitted a recipe for crispy scaled barramundi with avocado mousse, verjuice butter, radish and wild sea vegetables that helped him to claim the winning title. Jacob was also named Australia’s top apprentice chef in the 2011 Australian Culinary Federation awards.
