The Fine Food Australia 2009 expo opened today at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, and will run until Thursday September 10.
Exhibition Manager, Minnie Constan, said that pre-registration for this year’s event has surpassed last year; 33,600 visitors signed up before the expo opened, in comparison to 28,000 last year. This increase suggests that Fine Food Australia 2009 will be even more successful than previous years.
A range of new products are on display at Fine Food Australia, represented in a record number of entries into the Best New Product Awards. The winners are yet to be decided, but the Best New Product Award categories include:
- Best Retail Product
- Best Retail Equipment
- Best Foodservice Product
- Best Hospitality Equipment
- Best Baking Product
This year there has been a notable increase in the number of equipment entries, which Constan puts down to government’s tax break for businesses on equipment depreciation.
Also worthy of note are the two new ‘worlds’ in this years exhibition: retail equipment and gluten-free, which has received a great deal of interest from visitors.
Constan says that the some of the success of Fine Food Australia can be attributed to its interactive elements.
‘Fine Food Australia is a launchpad for new products and equipment. It’s the largest trade show in Australia for the food and hospitality industry, and its interactive element allows for the showcasing of new products and enables buyers to come and see local and international trends.’
‘Whatever is new or has not yet been released into the market, you can see here first.’
