The Financial Services Institute of Australasia (Finsia) describes itself as Australia's premier membership organisation for the financial services industry.
Finsia connects more than 16,500 members working in:
- corporate finance and wholesale banking
- financial markets
- managed funds and superannuation; and
- private wealth management and retail banking.
Primarily, Finsia focuses on advancing the careers of its members by building their capabilities and professional standing. It achieves this by not only connecting members with each other, but also with:
- admired content
- thought-leading programs
- prestigious industry credentials; and
- influential professional networks.
The organisation also plays a vital role in strengthening the financial services industry through policy initiatives and respected credentials that drive rigorous professional standards.
In recent years, Finsia has been re-evaluating its role in order to best service members and the Australasian financial services industry as a whole.
Following extensive research, the organisation has identified a number of key priorities that reflect the changing needs of members.
Key amongst these is the importance of building more meaningful structures to support the professional standing and career advancement of members.
Concurrently, as the only industry-wide professional body in Australasia, Finsia states that it "has a critical and unique role to play in addressing financial crisis-induced damage to communal and government perceptions about the sector."
