With over 1,500 operators within its certification system, Australian Certified Organic (ACO) states that it is Australia's largest certifier for organic and biodynamic produce.

ACO describes its mission as "to maintain the reputation as the industry's leading certifier, ensuring integrity and authenticity in trade, delivering best value for service for certified clients whilst protecting the rights and interests of consumers of organic products."

To this end, it provides certification services to operators in all sectors of the organic industry, helping to ensure compliance with national production standards and allowing trace back of all products to their origin.

Products certified by ACO are eligible to display the Australian Certified Organic Logo, affectionately known as the 'bud'. ACO states that this is the organic industry's leading logo, and carries with it the ability to market organic produce on both domestic and international markets with confidence and market advantage.

Clients of ACO include certified organic operators in the Pacific, South East Asia and Japan, in addition to all states and territories of Australia, representing all sectors of the organic industry.

ACO is a fully owned subsidiary of Biological Farmers of Australia (BFA).
